“Do you find whenever it’s quiet-when you watch the leaves fall like blossoms in autumn or when the morning light warms the room-your heart whispers dreams overlooked in the busyness of life?”

Bonnie Gray-Whispers of Rest

“Be still, and know that I am God!”

Psalm 46:10

Have you ever closed a book, lovingly placed it on a shelf, to find it lingering with you for days, weeks, or even years? I have. With more than a few. I can recall to this day, words settled somewhere deep, becoming a part of me.

I first mentioned this book here as one I read in May. Bonnie Gray’s Whispers of Rest made it’s way to my hands during a time when life was frenzied and overwhelming. Through that season her words quickly became balm to my weary soul.

I would gather my Bible, journal, pens, and Whispers of Rest, settle on piles of feathery comfort and read. Read, journal, search Scriptures, pondering it in my heart.

Whispers of  Rest beckoned me to rest. To listen. To remember Who I belong to. Reminded me I am loved by a merciful and gracious God, who pursues me and never leaves me alone. A God who knows my pain, suffers with me, and catches my tears.

If you find yourself in that frenzied place of busyness, I urge you to read Whispers of Rest. Give yourself space and time to sit with the words as they turn over in your heart.

Bonnie’s words are beautifully written. Her prayers and prompts thought provoking.

Yes, Whispers of Rest will linger in my heart for many days to come. Like an old friend, I will pull it off the shelf over and over again.

“I’ve wondered, could the girl with stars in her eyes ever come back to me?

As we come to the end of our forty-day journey, I am thankful we’ve shared this journey of returning to our First Love. We’ve found our spark again with God’s whispers of rest, revitalizing our soul with His love in new ways.” Bonnie Gray

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

Jeremiah 31:3
