“He did not come to bring peace, but a revolution. The Gospel is not a children’s fairy tale, but rather a cutting-edge, rolling thunder, convulsive earthquake in the world of human spirit.”
Brennan Manning from The Ragamuffin Bible (NIV)
We have been on a journey. A journey through the very Word stretched across my lap as I sit here. We could continue. Continue to journey, read, study. We could camp here for days, weeks, and months. The truths contained, words that propel us forward. They drip with richness in their history. Speak truth and wisdom, pave the way for us.
It is here, this point in the journey, the urge to take action surrounds me thick as fog.
Acts was written to show the spreading of the Gospel. The good news Jesus died and rose to life again. It is not intended to stop there. To stop where the pages end. To stop where they sit open on your lap.
There is more. So much more.
No. It is meant to go on, move forward, to be passed on. We don’t snap shut our Bibles on Sunday Morning before we walk out and leave it there.
If we do, we are missing the Message. Missing our purpose.
Pass it forward.
I think of D. L. Moody who was known for stopping folks on the street and asking if they knew Jesus. I am ashamed to tell you, I have never been this bold. Never.
You are called, you are gifted with the power of the Holy Spirit. We are given this power not to squelch, but to use. To pour it in and pour it out.
We have been handed this thing, this gift of The Gospel. You have been given a story. I have been given a story. It is ours to tell.
And tell it we should.
I love Paul’s words in Acts 20:27:
for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know. ~NLT
Again, as Paul stands bound in chains before Festus and King Agrippa:
Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.” ~Acts 26:29
Paul wanted his audience, wanted me and you, and those behind us to become the same as him.
Sold out. Bold in proclaiming the Gospel. Courageous to step out and spread the Good News.
Willing to suffer for the cause.
It can start in our own hearts, our homes, marriages, families. Spread beyond the confines of our boundaries.
What am I going to do with this gift?
What are you?
I pray the past thirty~one days have blessed you as much as me! I pray, that like me you have been prodded to action!
Let us be brave and mighty proclaimers of The Gospel! Bold in our actions. Courageous in our efforts. Transparent with our stories.
May we be the light in a dark world!
Let us finish this race strong!
