Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy.

Psalms 65:8 NLT

Stepping onto the deck in predawn morning, gazing up to star filled sky, I am awed at the bigness of God, the smallness of me. Stars placed just right, named by the Father who formed me with his hands. I raise my hands high in praise, silenced in awe.

I stayed there a bit. Stood in the quiet watching twinkling sky. Standing in the breath of God as it blows across me in gentle breeze.

Be still and know that I am God…Psalms 46:11

It’s not often I am stunned to silence. My sweet man will attest to such. I called him out to join me, share the stars, share the moment. We needed it. The fresh breath, time together.

Coming back inside to coffee and breakfast cookiessitting in the quiet. The traffic behind me a reflection of new seasons. New beginnings.

Busses rolling, school bells ringing, lunch boxes and backpacks spill over with fresh supplies and unsharpened pencils. Life moving forward at breakneck speed.

Nanna camp shut down for the summer. All that remains, remnants of smudges on the windows and stainless steel. My sweet man back at work full time.

This is a week of new beginnings and returning to the old. Over the weekend, I washed his lunch box, prayed over his health, his trudging back in to long days. The quiet in his absence. Lola’s long face and soulful eyes watching my every move.

Let go of summertime scents, late nights, mornings sleeping in. Juicy watermelons, dripping ice cream cones, and fireflies. Letting go with morning goodbye kisses and whispered prayers. Letting go of the unexpected hard. Watching as tail lights fade up the drive.

Letting go of star filled sky and watch as morning light bursts through.

Letting go of old and grabbing the new.

Today as we leave a season of hard unexpected, we relearn old rhythms of packing lunch and spending days apart.

I begin with a fresh page. A new beginning.

A clean page. Sharpened pencils and new chapters.
