~Five Minute Friday~
The day goes dark as night.
He breathes his last breath. The temple curtain ripped in two.
A shiver of fear runs through the bane of all existence.
Tears flow down dusty and drawn faces. Leave a trail of grief and sorrow.
His body taken down. Wrapped and prepared with gentle hands. Solemn hearts lay him in a tomb.
The crowd disperses.
All of heaven and earth lay quiet for a day.
I drag the heavy Bible across my lap. Run my fingers over words of hope. I’m stuck. Mired down in the day of in between death and life. This is the place I always seem to get caught up. I’ve never been good at the in between. Unanswered prayers linger there. Questions hang in the air. Hope and faith teeter and wobble.
The women slip quietly to the tomb where he lay.
The stone rolled away. An empty tomb.
Wondering what in the world has taken place, two men appear. Stand beside them in clothing that gleamed like lightening.
In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!” ~Luke 24:4~6a NIV
He. Is. Alive.
The heavy words laying upon my lap, grow lighter. The in between grows easier. The gap is closed between death and life. Life everlasting.
Because He is alive, I am alive!
