Thrown darts that wound the souls of others, shredding hearts.
Ugliness spewed out, too late to take back.
Consequences that trail you like a pesky mosquito.
When all is still and quiet, these are the things that clatter and rattle in my heart. Shattering my faith. Leaving me teetering on the what might have beens. How I might’ve changed things if only I had done this. Hadn’t done that.
The things that haunt you in the dark, when sleep fails, and mind wanders.
Wanders to the past. The sorrow of regret. The longing to change what you cannot.
We all have those things. Things that come back to haunt when least expected.
Things we would love to erase from our past.
I’ve been there. No doubt you have as well.
In Psalm 103:12nlt God tells us “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
If we have confessed those sins to Him, he is faithful and just to forgive them. (1John 1:9)
That’s not to say we won’t suffer consequences from those past sins.
Still, we have to let them go.
Not allow the Evil one to dally there. Throwing arrows where doubts linger.
Refuse to be stagnated in a pool of muck.
Refusing Satan a foothold in our life and in our past.
We are at our weakest when we travel down the road of regret.
Likely a place where we’ve already sought forgiveness from The Almighty but can’t forgive ourselves.
Accept God’s forgiveness. Today.
Otherwise we are paralyzed in our ministry. In our relationship with Him. In our faith walk.
In our future.
Our Past, my past is part of our story. It is what makes us who we are today.
The ugliness. Brokenness. Battle scars and all.
It’s our testimony. Our witness.
It’s a picture of redemption. Of grace. Mercy.
It’s hope for others.
Let’s shut down the clatter in our hearts. Forgive, even ourselves, as He forgives us.
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased us our freedom and forgave our sins.” Colossians 1:13-14nlt
Let us walk in freedom today. His freedom. Freedom from the past. Freedom bought by the blood of His Precious Son.
“He rescued me because he delighted in me.” Psalm 18:19
Soak your heart in that today. He delights in you~in me.
Graced by God
