“As we age, we become more and more of our truest, finest version of self.” Kristin Armstrong
Call me strange, but I love wrinkles. To me there is nothing more beautiful than a woman with the story of her life etched upon her face. A woman comfortable in her own skin.
When I became of a certain age and season, I embraced it. I felt empowered. I’m happy with my wrinkles. They are my story. The handprint of God upon my life. (And my children..smile) They give me a certain bravado, as if I possess more wisdom than I actually have. A sense of security of who I am. A measure of courage and boldness and character. They say, “here is a woman who has been around the block, faced life head on and came out stronger and bolder and more courageous than before”. They are uniquely me.
But, there is a face lift. A face lift that will change your appearance, leaving it softer and brighter, but without taking away your character or raising your eyebrows into your hair line. And I want it, do you? So how do we get it? Where do we go?
Where else, but to The Source. The Source, itself. The only Source, who can change you from the inside out. So much so, that even the outer appearance begins to transform.
Ecclesiastes 8:1NLT says “Who is like the wise? Who knows the explanation of things? A person’s wisdom brightens their face and changes its hard appearance.”
It starts with God. Jesus in your heart. And then it comes from His Word. Words that are life giving, life changing, balm to our souls, sweet music to our ears. Words that answer the longing inside of us for something bigger, something better, something deeper. Living Water.
And wisdom. Wisdom that comes from above. And we only need ask.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5NIV
Wisdom, wisdom from Above, will give gentleness to words and manners, and will brighten your face. Soften your edges, smooth out the hard places we wear. Transform us from the inside out. And ultimately draw others to Him.
I want to be the truest, finest version of myself. But I can’t do that alone. I don’t want to do it alone. I’ve tried and it’s ugly.
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14NIV
Change your heart. Change your appearance. Change your life and He will transform you into the truest, finest version of yourself.
